Applies professional concepts to independently provide prescriptive advice on academic policies and procedures for an academic department, including major and minor requirements, and all aspects of course requirements for degree completion.
Under the general direction of the department manager, this position provides undergraduate student advising on the full range of requirements for the History of Art and Visual Culture (HAVC) Department including a breadth requirement across six geographic regions and requirements as well as program support to the department.
In the History of Art and Visual Culture Department, students study the production, use, form, and reception of visual products and cultural manifestations past and present. Objects of study include paintings, sculptures, and architecture, which are within the traditional purview of art history, as well as art and non-art objects and visual expressions that sit beyond disciplinary boundaries. The HAVC Department offers courses covering a wide variety of material from the cultures of Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Pacific Islands, including media as diverse as ritual, performative expression, bodily adornment, landscape, the built environment, installation art, textiles, manuscripts, books, photography, film, video games, apps, websites, and data visualizations.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving.
Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original idea to solve problems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
Ability to multi-task.
