BFTV is a large administrative cluster, providing administrative and technical support for teaching, research and outreach to the faculty, staff, and students of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Food Science & Technology, Textiles and Clothing, Viticulture & Enology within the two colleges of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Engineering. These departments and the Cluster have a combined estimated annual operating budget for teaching, research, outreach, and support of $33MM, composed of state funds, extramural funds, endowments, gifts, and sales income. The Cluster supports 70 faculty, 95 staff, 140 other academic titles, and approximately 750 combined undergraduate and graduate students annually.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Business Operations Manager, responsible for procurement of major scientific, computer, laboratory, and supplies for the faculty research programs and the administrative unit. Responsible for all accounts payable, including reconciliation of orders, invoices, for processing all invoices and credit memos, direct charge reimbursements, and for processing travel and entertainment reimbursements for assigned PIs. Responsible for providing Account Management and extramural planning support to assigned subset of PIs. Incumbent will gather and apply financial data and University financial management mechanisms to ensure comprehensive and accurate budget construction, assist PIs to complete new grant and contract proposals, analyze programmatic needs, and make recommendations. They will maintain all grants and extramural records and documentation and identify, research, and resolve problems, reconcile ledgers, monitor accounts, and prepare for fiscal closing of accounts at year-end. They will review and summarize financial information for special reports; will manage self-supporting funds and develop, analyze, and revise recharge rates. The incumbent will participate in short and long-range planning for programs and services as part of two teams, the Budget Analyst Team and the Purchasing Team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
Experience in financial analysis, forecasting/projections, budgeting, and planning in order to analyze and compile financial data and reports.
Experience with the purchase of equipment and office supplies and with accounts payable, including calculating percentages, total costs, and sales tax.
Experience with travel processes, providing travel guidelines, and assisting with travel reimbursements.
Experience working with automated financial and purchasing systems.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to effectively communicate and interact with Dean's Offices, campus departments, Principal Investigators, CAO, staff, and students to ensure compliance with UCD policies and procedures.
Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload to manage and monitor multiple accounts and projects simultaneously and to meet multiple and variable priorities and deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
Experience compiling complex budgets, accounting and personnel functions, including detailed budget preparation, contract and grant budget proposals, purchasing, payroll, ledger reconciliation, and fiscal close.
Experience working with facilities to maintain, repair, renovate, and improve buildings and spaces.
Experience with purchasing specifically related to scientific laboratories including chemicals and laboratory equipment.
Experience with UC Davis financial systems and other campus applications.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Knowledge of UC policies and procedures, including business contracts, purchasing and other PPM.
