Parsons School of Design, a college of The New School, seeks a full-time Associate Director of Part-Time Faculty Affairs in the School of Fashion (SOF), which consists of graduate and undergraduate academic programs in Fashion Design, Fashion Design & Society, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Management, and Textile Design. The school has approximately 350 full and part-time faculty and over 1200 students.Â
The Associate Director of Part-time Faculty Affairs is principally responsible for managing Part-Time Faculty affairs within a school within Parsons. The Associate Director ensures the compliance of Part-Time Faculty relations in accordance with the UAW-ACT contract. This position also supports the academic leadership as they assure pedagogic and academic standards across the curriculum. The Associate Director of Part-time Faculty reports to the Assistant Dean of Part-time Faculty Affairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Working directly with:
The Assistant Dean of Part-time Faculty Affairs in the Deans♠Office to manage and ensure adherence to timelines and the consistent application of policy across Parsons and the University.
The Schoolâ™s Academic leadership, including Dean, Associate Dean, Program Directors, and Coordinators, advise on and oversee compliance with the UAW contract and Parsonsâ™ policies.
The other Part-Time Faculty Associate Directors and Manager within Parsons units on PTF Affairs matters including the look-around process, staffing, faculty development, disciplinary reviews, etc.Â
Ensure compliance of Part-Time Faculty with University policies in accordance with the UAW-ACT contract. Where appropriate, work with the Deanâ™s Office and Schoolâ™s academic leadership to improve the use of University processes, tools and systems.
Serve as school representative and point of contact to Part-Time Faculty on matters such as baseload, semester count, university resources, teaching schedule, curricular inquiries, as well as convey important information and updates.
Prepare and maintain various PTF data sets on an on-going and annual basis for School academic leadership to support effective curricular decision-making. Present data at School Leadership Council meetings and other venues in support of these efforts.Â
Facilitate and support Part-Time Faculty scheduling in coordination with school-based course planning staff and academic leadership adhering to contractual obligations and deadlines.
Monitor Part-Time Faculty performance and lead out addressing performance concerns including crafting and oversight of individual performance improvement plans and supporting community wide faculty workshops and development opportunities in collaboration with School academic leadership.
Work with school academic leadership to craft and execute faculty development workshops, programs and initiatives. Maintain and curate school-based repository of faculty development materials to support effective teaching and learning.
Manage the hiring process by navigating new hires through paperwork and onboarding processes, and when appropriate assist academic leadership with program recruiting efforts.
Manage, in conjunction with academic leadership, the termination process and lead termination conversations, where appropriate.
Oversee Part-Time Faculty additional duties through memoranda of understanding, working with academic leadership to ensure clear work agreements and budgetary allocations.
Manage collection and template compliance for semesterly syllabi archiving process with operations staff as appropriate.
Advocate Part-Time Faculty affairs position in School committees by sharing timelines, expectations, PTF affairs data, research analysis and protocols.
Facilitate curriculum implementation efforts as they relate to Part-Time Faculty affairs. This includes facilitating qualifications reviews and outcomes, and working with academic leadership to devise reasonable training and development programming.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masterâ™s degree preferred; Bachelorâ™s degree with related professional experience.
At least three years work experience in educational administration, ideally in a complex urban university setting.
Self-starter capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a complex work environment.
Ability to work successfully independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to communicate well with diverse populations including faculty and staff throughout the University.
Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google docs.
Ability to adhere to university COVID-19 policy and requirements.
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-3x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.
