Job Description

The Planning Specialist enables the Environmental Graphics & Signage / Interior Design planning teams to work strategically with project teams assembled for clinical, academic and research projects. The Planning Specialist assists and works with the planning, design, and construction staff with the development of facility projects (renovation and new construction) and the refurbishment of existing facilities.

Position Overview

• Provides scheduling assistance on internal project teams, and with outside Associates. Diverse areas of administrative support provided includes reports relating to capital planning, space planning and programming, costs and estimating, standards, and data base management.

• Assists with presentations, prepares special reports, and helps document project activity.

• Work independently on projects.

• Supports projects with field survey work and installation vendor coordination.

• Maintains a regular dialogue with OSUWMC Supply Chain and Facilities, Design and Construction (FDC) staff.

• Working knowledge of Architectural drawings, basic building codes and accreditation standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Interior Space Planning, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Design or similar field or equivalent business oriented education and experience is required

• 2-4 years of relevant experience required

• Proficiency with Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, Revit) as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Autodesk Visualization tools and software, and Adobe Creative Suite software, are required

• Correctly implement the strategies proposed and come up with solutions

• Ability to work independently

• Ability to reach architectural drawings, elevations and floor plans

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written required

Additional Skills

• Experience with PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project desired

• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory codes applicable to clinical, office, and research environments is highly desirable

• Experiences should show a proficiency in managing multiple tasks, sensitivity to the costs of facility operations, and an overall creativity

• Experience in a multidisciplinary academic medical center, a research environment, or a complex organizational environment is desirable

• A track record of working in 24 / 7 clinical environments is desirable

• Professional certification/registration is preferred
