Description: The Fashion Design department at Pratt Institute, located in Brooklyn, NY, is creating a pool of applicants for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters to join our part-time faculty community.
At Pratt, we define fashion practice as cultural messaging through clothes. Students contextualize fashion within a social framework and through rigorous attention to production, craft, and contemporary aesthetics.
Devoted to a creative learning community, Pratt recognizes the strength that stems from a diversity of perspectives, ideas, backgrounds, approaches and experiences. We aspire to continue to grow as a place that always welcomes and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to contribute to and be part of the Pratt community.
Pay Rate: $1,300 - $1,720 per contact hour
Qualifications: Immediate openings for Fall 2022 in construction, patternmaking and draping. We encourage applicants with experience and knowledge in the following areas of expertise:
Flat pattern making, three-dimensional draping and garment construction
Various construction techniques, finishing details and best practices
Experience applying technical skills to the creative process through draping, patternmaking and cutting
Historical and critical perspectives on contemporary fashion design, especially non-western perspectives on fashion design
Sustainability, materials/textiles and circular design practices
Digital design literacy, CAD technology / CLO3D
