Danville Community College developed from two institutions, Danville Technical Institute and the Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute opened in 1936 as Danville Textile School, becoming Danville Technical Institute just after World War II. The Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute first began as an engineering division in 1946, and was later expanded to include the first two years of course work for all engineering, business administration, liberal arts, and science majors. Beginning in the summer of 1966, all programs taught by Danville Technical Institute were brought under the Virginia Department of Community Colleges. Effective July 1, 1968, the Danville Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute merged with the existing community college providing the comprehensive programs now offered.The Dual Enrollment Coordinator will have a comprehensive knowledge of all college policies and procedures, including the application, enrollment, placement, and orientation processes for dual enrollment and incoming students and will also understand the administrative procedures for registration and enrollment functions within the DCC Student Information System(SIS).
Provide programmatic support service for dual enrollment, concurrent, and Early College courses and students including:Provide clear and consistent communications, letters, brochures, and other marketing materials to promote dual enrollment program.Manage DE contracts, DE permission forms, and documents involving high schools, students, and faculty.Work with high schools to develop DE rosters and enroll students into DE classes.Handle administrative data entry into the PeopleSoft system and all record keeping of course offerings, rosters, student qualification data, and grades for dual enrollment courses.Work with DE students and their parents on transitioning to DCC for post-secondary enrollment, including advising for program completion while in high school.Establish and maintain working partnerships with key stakeholders, including:Coordinate with the DCC Coordinator of Enrollment Services, Coordinator of Advising, Academic Deans, full-time faculty liaisons and high school administration on the DE course and program offerings.Work with the DCC Business Office for the DE billing and reimbursement process each semester.Work with academic deans and academic advisors to provide DE orientations to both DE students and DE instructors annually and participate in DE informational events at the high schools as needed.Collect, maintain, and report student and program data.Attend and provide support for on and off campus activities and college events.Other Duties as assigned.Experience in a higher education and/or high school environmentCommitment to the community college missionAbility to work with people from diverse backgrounds, interests, and abilitiesAbility to work in a dynamic student environment and with a diverse student populationAbility to demonstrate problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently or in a team environmentStrong interpersonal and written communication skillsOutstanding organizational skillA focus on student and program successExperience working in an office environmentExtensive experience with MS Office and Google applicationsAbility to exercise discretion and use sound judgement in decision making
