The Office Associate for the Department of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design (TMFD) will play a vital role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of the department through strategic community outreach and value-added experiences. This position will focus on coordinating department events, assisting with office operations, maintaining the department and Robert Hillestad Gallery websites, assisting IANR and Extension's educational initiatives within communities, supervising on-call positions, and serving as a liaison with the Pixel Lab, University Communications, College of Education and Human Science's (CEHS) Director of Communications, Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources' (IANR) Director of External Engagement and State Relations, IANR Director of Communications, CEHS Director of Recruitment, and other university entities.
The role also involves managing the community-facing Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery and the Historic Textiles and Costume Collection, which includes coordinating outward-facing exhibition opportunities, engaging with donors and stakeholders, arranging for artifact shipments, engaging in the installation and de-installation process, and organizing the documentation, maintenance, and use of the collection in accordance with the highest museum and ethical standards.
A successful candidate in this position must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and in team situations. The ability to multitask and take a proactive, problem-solving approach is necessary. The candidate is also required to preserve confidentiality and represent oneself and the department well to others.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school diploma plus a minimum of four years demonstrated administrative/business support; equivalent education/experience considered.
Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation skills necessary.
Detailed-oriented with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills necessary.
The ability to multi-task and work independently within established procedures required.

Experience with public relations, marketing, art and humanities, or another communications-related field a plus.
