The Planning Specialist enables the Interior Design, Environmental Graphics Design & Signage & Wayfinding teams to work strategically with project teams assembled for clinical, academic and research projects. The Planning Coordinator assists and works with the planning, design, and construction staff with the development of a variety of facilities projects (furniture, renovation and new construction) and the restoration of existing facilities.
Position Summary
The Planning Coordinator provides scheduling assistance on internal project teams, and with outside Associates. Diverse areas of administrative support include capital planning, space planning, programming, costs and estimating, standards, purchasing, and database management. The PC assists with presentations, prepares special reports, project intake and helps document project activity. The PC can work independently on minor design projects. The PC supports projects with field survey work, furniture orders, and installation vendor coordination. The Planning Coordinator maintains a regular dialogue with OSUWMC Supply Chain, IT, and Facilities Operations, Design and Construction (FDC) staff. The Planning Coordinator should have a working knowledge of commercial office furniture, Architectural drawings, basic building codes, and accreditation standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in design, planning, or graphic related disciplines, or equivalent experience required.
Up to 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in AutoCAD and Revit
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, with emphasis on but not limited to Illustrator and Photoshop.
Experience using Bluebeam, Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Microsoft Project or Project Management software is desired.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience in a complex organization or multi-site system, a university or academic medical center, or a research environment.
